Site Visit by Civil ENGINEERING B-Tech students
Engineering department in coordination with On Job Training Department of Shinas College of Technology organized a site visit on 26th May 2014 for seven Civil B-Tech project students working on the project “Planning and Design of Library Building”. The students were accompanied by a faculty member from the civil engineering section.
The various drawings of the ongoing construction project of LRC and Auditorium was explained to the students before being taken to the site. They were also familiarized with the strict Omani standards that are to be followed. In addition soil investigation reports made by standard firms were also explained. Then the students were taken to the construction site.The building is planned as per the international architectural standards and work is in progress. The structural skeleton has been completed and the partition and finishing work is going on. The MEP installations are outstanding and new technology for air conditioning and the firefighting are implemented. Students were introduced to the various materials which are being used at the site which enabled the students to have a deeper understanding of civil engineering and the different stages of execution beginning with planning to construction.
Mr. Raad Khaled Al Janaby, the Operational and Maintenance Manager, along with Mr. Mohamed Osama, civil engineer, and Dr. Mohsin Qureshi of Sohar University guided and explained the various activities that were being undertaken on the site.
