A team comprising 23 students along with a faculty member from the Electrical section of the Engineering department visited VOLTAMP, a transformer manufacturing company located in the industrial area of Sohar, on 11th  May 2023. 

The team was welcomed by Ms. Fatma Al-Zadjali, Engineer-Marketing, who provided a briefing on the company's profile and the safety instructions to be followed during the visit. She also delivered a brief presentation on the basics of transformers. Mr. Mohammed Al-Kaabi, Supervisor-Winding section, SPA and Insulation, explained each section of the manufacturing unit and enthusiastically clarified the doubts raised by the students. 

Mr. Khalifa Al-Balushi, Supervisor-Tanking, joined the team and explained the importance and workings of the tanking section. Mr. Ahmed Al-Sumri, Engineer-Testing, explained the various testing methods and equipment used for testing the transformers. Finally, the team returned to the conference hall and had a fruitful discussion about what they had learned during the visit.
