Dr. Mahmoud Khazalah (Head of Civil Section) with Mr. Humaid Al-Saidi (OJT Coordinator) and Mr. Teofisto A. Jadulco (Mr. Ping) visited Sohar in search of industrial and construction companies, in hopes of finding placement for civil engineering students, on 12-01-2015 from 8:30AM to 3:00PM.

The first visit was to Engineering Innovation Design & Consulting LLC, where Mr. Manu Dams, the resident architect, helped in endorsing the construction company who has the tender for the Sohar University sports complex, which is a newly started project by the Alpha Oman LLC. The next visit was to the Applied Science Laboratory building, under the tender of Al-Khalili Construction LLC, and finally to CCC which has the tender for the reconstruction of the Sohar-Shinas national highway.

Engr. PankaGajjar, the project manager of the Alpha Oman LLC, gave an assurance that he could allocate six civil students for OJT, upon the approval of the dean of Sohar University. He told us to write a letter of request for the placement of our OJT students in the company constructing their sport complex. They started on the construction of the project this week.

Engr.YogeeshAchar, the Project Engineer of the Al Khalili ConstructionLLC, having the tender of the Applied Science Laboratory Building, told us that we still have to write a letter to the Ministry of Higher Education through the dean of the Applied Science College regarding our request that our students be allowed to do the OJT in their company. He gave as his assurance that they will take care the OJT civil students upon the approval of the said office. The building is almost thirty percent complete of this ongoing construction.

Engr. Mohammed Abdulateef of CCC, who is the project manager of the tender for the reconstruction Sohar-Shinas national road & Al-Falaj Bridge, told us that we also have to write a letter of request to the Ministry of Manpower through their company for placement of our civil OJT students. The ongoing construction up to this date is at the Falaj roundabout.
