New Renewable Energy
The Engineering Department of Shinas College of Technology arranged a presentation on New Renewable Energy by Dr. Claus Fischer of Heliocentris Energiesysteme GmbH, Germany on 23 February 2014. This event served as an eye opener to the state of the art technology currently being implemented in the renewable energy sector. The presentation was attended by engineering students and staff. The attendees took this opportunity to interact with the delegate on the issues related to energy storage and hydrogen fuel cell technology. During his visit to the institute, Dr. Claus appreciated the innovative project demonstrated by Mr. Khamis Al Zaabi, student of engineering department. Dr. Claus presented a case study of a hybrid autonomous energy installation implemented by BAPCO in association with Heliocentris. He also gave details of the Renewable Energy Technology setups offered by Heliocentris for educational and research institutes. He emphasized on the necessity of bringing the latest technology to institutes and universities. Considering the fact that a course on Renewable Energy is soon to be introduced as a common course to all specializations in engineering, the engineering faculty found the presentation to be highly useful and informative.
