Engineering Department in coordination with On Job Training Department of Shinas College of Technology organized an Industrial Visit for B.Tech students who are under taking Projects in Electrical Power Section to OETC-Load Dispatch Center, Mawalleh, and Muscat on 10/6/2014. The team comprised of 14 Students and 2 faculty members.

Students were benefitted by an understanding of the actual responsibilities of OETC-Load Dispatch Center, Mawalleh, Muscat which deals with the main transmission supply for more than 12 generation stations in Oman such as Sohar-1,Sohar-2,Buraimi,Barka 1,2,3 ,Wadi Al-Jezzi ,Harmful Mana, etc. and with electricity companies like Majan, Mazoon, and Muscat as a transmitter. They also learnt about the reliability and availability of services, variations in peak load for the last ten years time and the prediction of future expansion required in power generation, controlling the Power Distribution Parameters remotely using SCADA Platform, Practical aspects of power distribution and Practical aspects of data logging.

Mr. Abdullah Al-Salami, Control Engineer, guided the tour and provided the information of all the operations and departments inside the LDC with special focus on Control section.

Realization of the theoretical concepts and Practical aspects they studied during their course in Electrical power systems & power distribution system,power system analysis, power operation& Reliability and power stations were experienced during the visit.
