The Engineering Departments Staff Professional Development Committee (SPDC) organized a seminar on Geographic Information System (GIS) last May 13, 2012. The lecturers and technicians from Mechanical, Electrical and Civil sections participated in the seminar. Dr. Mahmood Khazalah, Head of the Engineering Department, commenced the seminar by giving a brief description of the topic. Mr. C. P. Shunmughanathan, Civil Section lecturer, delivered a presentation on Geographic Information System (GIS). GIS is a computer-based tool for mapping and analyzing spatial data. The applications of GIS data in various fields of Engineering were also discussed in details.
