Diploma Students of Electrical Section visit WADI AL JIZZI POWER COMPANY
The Industrial Link committee, in coordination with the OJT Department for Engineering Diploma students to Wadi AlJizzi Power Company on 17th June 2015, organized an Industrial visit.
Wadi ALJizzi Power Co. (WAJPCO), an operational subsidiary of the Electricity Holding Company SAOC (EHC), is a power company. The company undertakes generation, transmission of electricity besides carrying out water desalination. Its operational assets include a 297-megawatt (MW) natural gas-fired power plant and an associated water desalination facility located at WadiJizzi, Sohar, Oman. The plant is connected to the main gas transmission system and electricity grid network.
The company focuses on achieving operational efficiency besides adhering to health, safety and environment norms. WAJPCO actively organizes training programs to improve staff culture and awareness towards safety in the organization.
Mr. Abullah Al-Maqbali gave a welcome address and also an induction for safety aspects to be followed in the company.
Mr. Natarajan gave an explanation about the power generation unit and transmission unit, and clarified students’ doubts with patience.
Mr. Ibrahim took students into the control room and explained the activities in a detailed and clear manner.
The visit was very useful for the students in understanding the current power systems used in Oman and the industrial requirements.
