BTech Students Visit CCC Project Site
In coordination with the OJT Department of Shinas College of Technology, the Engineering Department arranged a site visit for the Bachelor of Technology (BTech) students of civil section to Consolidated Contractors Company, Shinas.
Eighteen BTech Civil section students visited the site to gain more knowledge needed for the completion of their project as part of their curriculum.
The visit aimed to impart to the students practical knowledge and real-life experience related to the project work undertaken during the current semester. The present status of Al Batinah Expressway and its allied construction activities were the main highlights of the visit.
Civil Section HOS Dr. Mahmoud Khazalah, and Civil Engineering lecturers Mr. Santhosh Khasage and Mr. Praveen Kumar Ramadas accompanied the students during the visit.
Safety engineer Mr. Elavarasan Pandiyan gave a safety induction on the safety rules to be followed on the site.
Engineer in-charge Mr. Mohammed Odeh explained everything about flyovers which form a part of the Al Batinah expressway project and how the cross-sectional profiles are chosen and erected on-site.
Mr. Santosh Khasge explained about the bearing which supports the flyover and the manner in which the dynamic load dissipation is done using the bearing beneath the flyover supports.
Site Engineer Mr. Suhaib Abu Rasu accompanied the group throughout the visit and explained the slope stabilization with readily available resources like boulders.
Mr. Khasage and Mr. Suhaib clarified the doubts raised by the students regarding the compaction activities taking place on the way to the site and on the premises of the pavements.
