B.Tech Civil Students visit CCC Bathina Expressway Project
An industrial visit to CCE (Consolidated Contractors Company) was organized on 03rdJune 2015. The B.Techstudents, along with the Civil Engineering Dept HOS,Dr. Mahmoud Khazalah, and Civil Engineering staff, Mr. Santosh and Mr.Mohammed Ashfaq visited the ongoing construction of the Batinah Expressway project.
In the beginning students were taken to the base camp office, located near the college,where they were informed about health and safety. They were then moved to the site, accompanied by Civil Engineering staff, the contractor project engineer, the construction manager and the site engineer. On the way to the Batinah Expressway project site they showed students different stages of the construction. They gave brief information about precast pre-stressed garders, reinforcement of garders, shuttering work of garders, etc.
Thereafter, the students were taken to the bridge construction site where the pier construction work was in progress. Students were made to understand the formwork, reinforcement arrangement, and the casting of the piers.
Furthermore the students were taken to the site where the pile foundation work was going on. They were shownthe pile foundation, pile cap and machines for boring. After that they were taken to a concrete plant where they received brief information about the concrete plant.
The SHCT students, who are at the doorstep of graduation, were inspired in confidence and observed professional work in practice. The visit was very fruitful. It ended with a lovely treat sponsored by the Contractors & Consultants of the new English language building at Shinas College of Technology.
The main objective of the visit was to show the students the different stages of construction. All the students had good interaction with the representatives.
Lastly the visit was successfully completed at around 2:30Pm.
