Engineering students visit Oman Cable Industries
A group of Bachelor students enrolled in High Voltage Engineering course visited Oman Cable Industries SAOG, on March 5, 2019.
Human Resources (HR) Head and Administration Manager Mr. Khalid Barwani welcomed the students.
Health Safety and Environment (HSE) officer Mr. Ahmed AL Sulaimani narrated the company’s health and safety rules that must be allowed by the students throughout the visit.
Engineers Jagadeesh Babu and Yousuf Al Jabri led the group to the manufacturing hall and quality control laboratories.
High voltage test facilities and equipment that perform tests on raw materials and finished cables were shown to the students.
The engineers, together with the laboratory technicians, explained the company’s test setups and test procedures such as partial discharge, high voltage withstand, impulse voltage withstand, heat run, loss factor measurement, tensile strength, and resistivity.
The Engineering Department (ED), in collaboration with the On-the-Job Training (OJT) Committee, organized the said visit.
