The Student Support Services Committee of the Engineering Department (ED) organized a workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Protection” on February 25, 2020 at the Theater, Engineering Building.

Attended by ED students, the workshop aimed at informing them about intellectual property protection and rights related to their projects and researches.

Dr. Wasil Hashim Mohammed, the Vice Head of Technology Transfer Office and Assistant Professor in the Engineering Department of Sohar College of Applied Sciences, served as the resource speaker.

He elucidated Oman’s IPR Rules and differentiated between trademarks and patents. In addition, he discussed the specifications required in patents registration.

As a token of appreciation, Ed Head Dr. Ahmed Al Balushi awarded the resource speaker with a certificate and a memento.
