SHCT promotes relationship with industry and community sectors

In response to the college goal on developing and sustaining mutual relationships with the private sectors and the community at large, a College Council Meeting was conducted last May 30, 2012 at 9 AM in the Conference Room. The Dean, together with the CC members, warmly welcomed the presence of the new members from the private sectors, Mr. Salim Khalaf Al Jabri (Regional Manager, Oman Gas Co.) and Mr. Waleed Khalfan Al Kaabi (Manager, Unique Solution Company) and from the Student Council, Mr. Ahmed Al Shamsi. The meeting aimed at building awareness about the College such as its governance, programs, services, facilities and other academic aspects and discussing ways to strengthen strong relationships with the industry and the community through creating communally beneficial programs, trainings and activities. Dr. Ali Al Mughairi (Dean) gave an overview of the College which includes its growth, accomplishments and its future plans for development. Mr. Darwish Al Kalbani (ADSA), together with Ms. Fatima Al Shibli (Head, OJTD), elaborated the significance of Industry and Community Engagement and the need of support and cooperation from the private sectors in providing training grounds for the OJT students and recruitment priority for the graduates. Dr. Sayed Hussein (QAU) discussed the OAAA Accreditation and the preparation for the Quality Audit Visit on June 3-6, 2012. Dr. Bryan Peppin (Head, ELC), Dr. Mahmood Al Khazalah (Head, Engineering), Ms. Aysha Al Jabri (HOS, IT) and Ms. Moza Al Shihi (Head, Business) presented brief descriptions of their Departments/Center. The academic department representatives also paved way in giving the development and recognition garnered by the studentry in their department. The CC expressed its gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Salim and Mr. Waleed for their invaluable time and unparalleled support in the realization of the College Vision, Mission and Objectives. The CC also planned of conducting another meeting to elaborate the discussion on Industrial Linkages for the next academic year. The meeting ended up with a campus tour for the external representatives.
