The Staff Professional Development Committee (SPDC) of the Information Technology (IT) Department held a webinar titled "Unleashing the Power of Transfer Learning, Transformers, and Large Language Models" on February 13, 2024, via Microsoft Teams.

Attended by 36 staff from the Math, IT and Networking sections, the said webinar aimed at giving the participants a comprehensive overview of Natural Language Processing (NLP), a branch of Artificial Intelligence that enables machines to comprehend and generate human language, both written and spoken.

Resource Speaker Dr. Saleem AbdulSamad, a faculty member of the IT Department, underscored the importance of NLP in creating natural and effective interactions between humans and machines. He also discussed the components, applications, challenges and text representation methods of NLP.
