IT Department hosts 2nd SITREX

IT Research Committee successfully hosted the 2nd Student IT Research Exposition (SITREX) on Thursday, 31st March 2022, online. A total of 52 student Research Papers were presented during the event.   The event started with a formal Inaugural Ceremony at 8:30 with special Chief Guest Dr. Sultan Al-Yahyai  who is the Co-founder and Manager of Training and External Communication of Code Academy Oman. It was followed by Parallel Technical Paper Presentation Session from 10 AM to 2 PM. The awarding ceremony was conducted at 3 PM. The 3 best student research awards for software engineering and 3 for networking were presented. 2 groups got the 1st place in Networking section. These are the research entitled “Interest-Of-Medical Robotic Things IOMRT): A Remote Healthcare Assistance & Monitoring” by Fatma Mohammed Al Futaisi,  Buthina ALMoqbali and Aisha ALGahwari mentored by Dr. Venkadeshan Ramalingam from UTAS-Shinas. UTAS-Salalah group also got 1st place with the research entitled “IoT Based Data Center Security Management System” by Mansoor Ahmed Bakhit Al Hadhari and Aseel Said Ismail Dashesha mentored by Mr. Devarajan Veerasamy.

The 2nd place went to UTAS-Al Musanna with the paper entitled “An IoT Based Intelligent Security System Implementation for Home Automation by Nuha Ali Al-Fazari, Zamzam Al-Nofali , Jawaher Al-Malki mentored by Dr. Gnana Rajesh.  Winners of 3rd place were UTAS-Ibra, with the paper entitled “Smart Gas Leakage Indicator” by Hajar Al Alawi, Safiya Al-Battashi mentored by Dr. Ramesh Palanisamy.

In Software Engineering, 1st place was awarded to UTAS-Shinas with the research entitled “Fair Share Smart Business Start-ups for Job Seekers in Oman - Challenges and Opportunities” by Yaqoob Al Awfi mentored by Dr. Prasanna Ranjith. 2nd place was awarded to UTAS-Shinas also with the research entitled “Multidimensional Impact of Tourism on Socio-Economic Development: A study with special reference to North Al Batinah” by Nahla Abdullah Said Al Thehli , Asam Al-Saidi and Rahma Al-Maqbali mentored by Dr. Prasanna Ranjith

3rd place was given to UTAS-Nizwa for the research entitled “Your car is in your smart mobile phone” by Mezna Nasser said Al Rashdi mentored by Dr. Sivaprasatham Venkatasubramanian. The  program ended with a vote of thanks by HOS-Networking, Ms. Salama Al-Kaabi.
