As part of UTAS-Shinas community engagement initiatives, ELC lecturers Dr Hani Al Balushi and Mr Nasser Al Hindasi delivered workshops at the National University of Science and Technology in Sohar, Induction Day on 12^th September 2022.  The workshops were presented to over 250 first-year College of Medicine and Health Science students from the National University.   Mr Nasser Al Hindasi presented a workshop focussing on the skills needed to succeed in college, in which he demonstrated the importance of acquiring emotional intelligence skills and the art of effective communication. Mr Nasser also highlighted the necessity of developing and using critical thinking skills to enhance personal and professional growth.   Dr Hani Al Balushi presented findings from his research study titled ‘Relationship between extra-curricular activities & leadership’ which involved 213 college students from various colleges in Oman.  Dr Hani recommended integrating the leadership practices in extra-curricular activities, and to focus on a specific model of leadership development for college students.  The Induction Day program included a series of workshops aimed at supporting students’ educational needs and personal well-being.   Dr. Nasser Al Nazwani, Deputy Dean of National University- Sohar, presented certificates of appreciation to the guest speakers.
