ELC spearheads Creating Auto Graded Tests Workshop
ELC lecturer, Mr. Waleed Mandour, facilitated a workshop on “Creating Auto Graded Tests Using Google Forms” at the E-Library Date on May 26, 2016.
Participants of the workshop included ELC Council members, Testing Unit members and level coordinators.
The workshop aimed at sharing insightful practice on using "Google Forms"to create quizzes and other assessment sheets for students.
At the end of the workshop, the participants were able to: 1) create digital assessment sheets with multiple choice, open-ended questions and questions based on incorporating rich-media items like pictures and videos, 2) customize the test settings and behavior according to the learning objectives, 3) feed the test with ‘correct possible answers’ in order to make it auto-graded using advanced tools in the Google apps; 4) email / auto-email results and feedback to each student separately, and 5) provide "digital reports" to the ELC management through Google Sheets & Google Docs.
In the workshop, Mr. Waleed emphasized that “E-Test outcomes are made suitable for foundation and post-foundation program exams.” He also underscored that some “suggested forms of tests can replace all paper-based tests (excluding those for “writing skill”) as these save time, effort and printing costs.”
Also, the workshop facilitator suggested the implementation of the new e-Test form after moving to the ELC Building, where computer labs are made available for all students.
The workshop was organized by the Staff Professional Development Committee, led by Mr. Johnny Kwashi.
