Three in One Knowledge Sharing Session Conducted
October 8, 2015 at exactly 12:15 pm, the Multi Purpose Hall of Shinas College of Technology was filled with laughter, sharing and learning courtesy of three brilliant speakers who are Lecturers of the Business Studies Department namely: Mr. Sibi John (Accounting Lecturer), Mr. Renjith Krisnan (HR Lecturer) and Mr. Vivek K. (Marketing Lecturer). The Knowledge in Sharing Sessions (KiSS) is a series of lectures conceived by the Staff Professional Development Committee (SPDC) of the Business Studies Department serving as a venue of sharing knowledge between faculty staff and speakers for continuous improvement and development of everyone.
The head of the department, Ms. Moza Al Shihi, fully supported the activity and joined the 34 lecturers who attended. Mr. Sibi John shared his thoughts and insights on the use of brainstorming as a technique in generating ideas, which can be used in teaching, in the corporate environment and in any problem or situation that needs a creative solution. He started the lecture with a game in which everyone participated.
Mr. Renjith had imparted his knowledge, tackling the importance of Human Resource Management, where he used rhetorical questions in engaging the audience. The session was highly informative and hilariously delivered.
Participants were grouped and a case was provided for analysis, after which, a representative from each group formed earlier was called; serving as an expert panellist in analysing the case. The lecturers were vibrant and intelligently expressed their opinions on the case. This is the strategy crafted by Mr. Vivek in sharing his knowledge. The idea, according to him, is that a case analysis as a tool for engaging students would turn the entire class active.
The activity ended at 2:00 pm by awarding a certificate of appreciation to the speakers by the head of the department, Ms. Moza Al Shihi. The activity was organized by the SPDC, headed by Dr. Joefrelin Ines, with its members; Dr. Minu Thomas, Ms. Nithya Sambamoorthy, Mr. Shafi Ansari and Mr. Reynald Funtinilla.
