The Business Studies Department at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences Shinas recently hosted a workshop titled "An Introduction to Financial Distress." The event was organized by the Community and Alumni Engagement Committee on 15th May 2023. The resource speaker for the workshop was Dr. Vimal Kumar Agarwal, a Senior Lecturer in the Accounting section at UTAS-Shinas. The main objective of the workshop was to enhance the skills of the students and enable them to explore the characteristics of financially distressed companies. Dr. Agarwal provided an overview of the Altman Z score, a tool used to estimate the likelihood of a company going bankrupt. The event was attended by students from the Business Studies Department, and it concluded with an active interaction session between the students and the speaker.
