Maximizing the available technology and resources at hand is the main theme of the seminar-workshop conducted by the IT Department, as part of its Tech-Talk Series, last Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Rm. 1092.Mr. Thanigaivel Ganesan, IT lecturer, served as the resource speaker. He facilitated and presented topics on online annotation tools, free online magazines, open access journals, Google Powersearch, Twitter Hashtag, Stumbleupon, video lectures, and massive open online course (MOOC). Mr. Thanigaivel provided information from various websites on conducting research, open software, free and paid websites for journals and research papers, GoogleScholar apps, free virtual academy of Microsoft, open online courses, etc. to the participants. He demonstrated his website, www.thanigai.com, which contains essential information on IT topics and courses, by listing down useful resources. Also, the seminar-workshop started with a welcome message of Mr. Prasanna, IT QA Coordinator. He mentioned that IT professionals need to keep themselves abreast with the technological breakthroughs and innovations so that they can continuously hone their knowledge and skills in the areas of teaching and research. This Tech-Talk series seeks to bring IT professionals together by sharing their expertise, researches, and experiences, as part of the staff professional development program.
