IT Department facilitates lecture on action research
To cope up with the need of producing quality researches, the IT Department conducted a lecture on preparing and making of action research as part of its staff professional development activities. The first of this two-part lecture was delivered by Dr. Lemuel Nalugon on December 3, 2013 at the VIP Lounge. He discussed what action research is, the research process, common problems in the classroom which are possible areas of action research, the use of standard and validated questionnaires, etc. as an example, he also spoke about one of his action researches that was published in the past entitled The Impact of Self-Awareness Activities and Kokology Games on the Emotional Quotient of BSIT Students.
Dr. Ali Al-Mughari, College Dean, graced the activity and thanked all participants for their support in this endeavor. He hoped that this lecture served as a springboard for all staff to undertake research-oriented activities. Mr. Gharib Al-Matroushi, HoD of IT Department, gave the welcome remarks and emphasized the importance of undertaking research in improving class management and teaching-learning activities. Dr. Mary Jane Aragon, HoS of IT Section, introduced the resource speaker while Mr. Mohan served as the master of ceremony. Almost all the IT lecturers attended the lecture along with some invited lecturers from English Language Centre and Business Studies Department.
The second part of the lecture will be held on December 10, 2013 with Ms. Ferlisa Lavador as the resource speaker. She is expected to share her expertise on how to apply statistics in doing action researches.
This staff development activity was initiated by Mr. Christodoss Ranjith Prassana, IT SPDC Coordinator, heads of the three sections in IT, and Mr. Gharib Al-Matroushi, HoD of IT Department.
