IT Department conducts induction program for new students
The Information Technology Department conducted its induction-orientation program for the new students last Monday, May 28, 2012 at the Multi-Purpose Hall. This induction-orientation program aims to acquaint the students on the academic system, policies and procedures, specializations, student services and activities among others.
The induction-orientation program was started by Mr. Gharib Al-Matroushi, Head, IT Departrment, who welcomed the management, lecturers, and students. Mr. Gharib also gave a short background about the department and presented the heads of sections and lecturers.
The College Dean, Dr. Ali Al-Mughari, gave an inspirational message to the students. He encouraged them to hone their knowledge and skills while they are still in the college so that they will be well-equipped and employable in the near future. Mr. Aymen Al-Kiyumi, the new Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, spoke on the importance of working together as a team. Mr. Darwish Al-Kalbani, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, also graced the event.
As part of the program, Mr. Gharib presented the academic system, policies and procedures, and other academic-related matters that will guide the students properly on how to avoid academic delinquency and to obtain their desired qualifications. Dr. Mary Jane Aragon gave an overview on Diploma in Information Technology and discussed its goals, objectives, expected knowledge and skills sets, and job opportunities. Mr. Bala, Networking lecturer, presented Networking and Internet and E-Security specializations while Mr. Edgar Dalan gave an overview on student services and activities in the department. Ms. Susana Agustin served as the master of ceremonies. The IT faculty members also attended and supported the said event.
