IT Department concludes the lecture on action research
As part of its commitment to the production of quality researches, the IT Department hosted the second and final part of the lecture series on the preparation and conduct of action research on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at the VIP Lounge. Ms. Ferlisa Lavador, Mathematics Lecturer, served as the resource speaker. Her talk focused on the importance of choosing the proper statistical treatment in research. She shared her knowledge and expertise of statistical concepts. She explained in detail the different types of statistics, variables, levels of measurement, sample and population and other analytical tools used in action research. She also demonstrated to the audience the use of SPSS software in doing statistical analysis in research through examples.
Ms. Lilibeth Decena, the master of ceremony, welcomed the august audience and Ms. Faridah Rehan, HoS – Mathematics, introduced the resource speaker. Dr. Joey Masirag presented the mementos and certificates of appreciation to the resource personae: Dr. Lemuel Nalugon and Ms. Ferlisa Lavador. The vote of thanks was said by Mr. Saleem Raja.
This lecture series served as a springboard for the department to encourage its staff to undertake research activities by providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills in research. This lecture series was held as part of the staff development activity initiated by Mr. Christodoss Ranjith Prassana, IT SPDC Coordinator, heads of the three sections in IT, and Mr. Gharib Al-Matroushi, HoD of IT Department.
