Mr. Carlo Ferandos and Mr. Syed Najam from ETC-CSS conducted training on Fortigate Firewall to IT Lecturers in Networking Section on January 19, 2014. The training focused on the features of Unified Threat Management (UTM) of Fortigate, a next generation firewall. The training session was followed by a demonstration on how it is deployed in the college network. In ShCT, Fortigate acts as our comprehensive perimeter defense. It performs multiple security functions including the prevention of malicious or harmful software from entering our network through the internet gateway. It also blocks the well-known Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack that may bring our internet service down. This training aimed at providing support to the academic department as ETC works hand-in-hand with IT department’s staff development program initiatives. This training offered new technological ideas in the actual networking environment that will assist IT Lecturers with the delivery of their classes in Networking subjects.
