ELC lecturers exhibit their cultural heritage in 2nd English Open Day
English Language Center (ELC) lecturers showcased their native cultures during the celebration of the 2nd English Open Day at Shinas College of Technology (ShCT) on June 5, 2014.
Said celebration is part of the weeklong celebration “ 1st ShCT Culture Week” with the theme: “Bringing Technology to Life” on June 1-5, 2014.
Lecturers from the Philippines adorned their booth with blue, red and white fabrics depicting the color of their flag and played a video showing the festivals and beautiful tourists’ destinations in their country. They also brought traditional Filipino sweets which they shared with the participants and viewers. In addition, lecturers from Pakistan designed their booth with black, blue and white fabrics and pictures of beautiful views of their country. They also brought traditional Pakistani dresses.
Indian lectures decked their booth with green, white and red fabrics. Pictures of scenic views, traditional Indian dresses and food could also be seen in their booth. Alternatively, the lone Ghanaian lecturer, Mr. Johnny Kwaeshie, decorated the Ghana booth with blue fabric and pictures of famous people, beautiful places, and traditional Ghanaian dress and food.
The Staff Support Coordinator, Mr. Vinayakam Ariyaputhiran, together with Student Support Coordinator, Mr. Hamdam Al Abri and Communication Team Leader, Ms. Marilyn C. Gallema, spearheaded the aforementioned activity.
