Mr. Hamad Al Qasmi, English Language Center (ELC) lecturer, spearheaded a series of sessions on The Art of Handling Students workshop held at the VIP Lounge and the SAC Room, February 10-13, 2014. Participated in by ELC lecturers from both the Foundation and the Post-Foundation Programs, the brief workshop served as an avenue for the lecturers to thresh out some of the common classroom management issues like using cellular phones in class, speaking in Arabic during classes, and tardiness. During each session, Mr. Qasmi elicited the participants reactions on the classroom management issues which he presented through authentic video clips. He likewise encouraged the group to share possible solutions to those issues raised. Said initiative is part of a series of professional development activities jointly organized by the Staff Professional Development Committee and the Staff Support Committee led by Mr. Elmo Purpura and Mr. Vinayakam Ariyaputhiran, respectively.
