The English Language Center (ELC) at Shinas College of Technology (ShCT) organized the 5th Annual ELT (English Language Teaching) workshop with the theme “Classroom Management in ELT: The Untold Stories” on April 15, 2013. For the past five years, ELC has been organizing the ELT Workshop at the national level.

Mr.Khalaf Al Mamari, the Director of Quality Assurance Department at Al-Buraimi University College, was the keynote speaker. He talked about Teachers’ Self Assessment as a Step towards Classroom Management. A sample of the self assessment form encompassing the action plan and questionnaires were provided to the staff for their use and self- improvement.

Mr. Nasser Al Hindasi , ELC Lecturer, served as feature speaker. He reflected on the presentations from the TESOL Arabia Conference, held last March 2013. He concluded his talk by referring to Neil Macbeth’s presentation, Kindergarten to Career: Bridging Gap.

For the workshop parallel sessions, sixteen presenters from various colleges shared their experience and perspectives on the art of classroom management. The sessions provided ample opportunities to share experiences on classroom management.
