Summer Semester Induction Program Conducted by Business Studies Department

The Business Studies Department had conducted an induction program for Diploma 1 students on May 14, 2014 at 10:00 am held at the Multi Purpose Hall of the College which was attended by three Asst. Deans of the College. Mr. Ali Mahmood Al Balushi the Asst. Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs had shared a story based on his experience about a graduate of Shinas College of Technology who had succeeded amidst failures that he had experience while studying. He also challenged the new students to study harder and the faculty staff to initiate further innovation for an effective teaching -learning process. Ms. Aysha Mater Al Jabri, the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs had spoke to new students about the rigor of studying and encouraging them to succeed. The Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Mr. Ali Al Alawi who used to be the HOS of Human Resource Section at the Business Studies Department had shared his expertise, especially on the continuous implementation on the project that he started : Enayah Project. The HOD, Ms. Moza Al Shihi, gave insights about the department. She welcomed everyone in attendance; the Assistant Dean, the Faculty Staff and most importantly the students as the event was mainly addressed for them. Words of encouragement reverberate at the hall and challenging the students to give their heart to their studies where their future in the employment market lies on. She provided overview on what to expect, the dos and donts, rules and regulations, policies that should be accorded while at Shinas College of Technology. Two certain students had shared their experiences expounding their stay at the college. They provided ideas to their fellow students regarding the specialization they have. Omar Sultan Salim Al Habsi contributed to HR specialization, while Sumaya Yacob Youssuf, a bachelor student specializing in Accounting, eloquently shared her knowledge and experiences in her chosen field of specialization. The HOS of Marketing Section; Dr. Joefrelin C. Ines had talked on the employment opportunities, trends, description, courses or subjects and professional bodies where a graduate can be affiliated to. Dr. Cirilo Mirano, a member of the Business Studies Registration Department had contributed his expertise on the calculation of CGPA showing different scenarios with specific cases of probation status. The cases he provided were in a mini workshop explaining a situation where a student could get out of probation. The HOD, Ms. Moza, had also shared her ideas regarding CGPA Calculations. The program was initiated by the Student Support Committee headed by Ms. Amel whose aim was to inform, educate and create awareness for students on the various policies, rules and regulations, assessment system, services and staff of the department. The event was facilitated by Dr. Joefrelin C. Ines who made a way for faculty staff and the HOSs to  introduce themselves to students, where their sentiments were in unison to provide a quality and effective teaching-learning process.
