Induction Program Conducted by Business Studies Department
The Business Studies Department conducted an induction program for Diploma 1 students at 10:30 am on January 22, 2014 at 10:30 am at the Multi Purpose Hall. It was attended by the Asst. Dean of Student Affairs, Staff and students. Ms. Moza Al Shihi, the HOD, provided an overview and insights about the department. She spoke on the rules and regulations, policies and expectations for both the college and for the students. She warmly welcomed the students to be a part of the Business Studies family and encouraged them to excel in their studies at Shinas College of Technology.
Academic concerns were vividly explained by the HOS of HR Section, Mr. Ali Al Alawi. He expounded clearly in a simple and thorough manner the Assessment Criteria or Grading System, the computation of GPA, probation status and its consequences. Mr. Ali also spoke on the Enayah Project which highlights the courses in which students usually fail, and are placed on probation as a consequence.
Ms. Aziza and Ms. Khadija enlightened the students about the various specializations at the department. They talked about the opportunities, trends, description, courses or subjects and professional bodies where a graduate can be affiliated. Ms. Aziza spoke about Accounting as a specialization while Marketing and HR were handled by Ms. Khadija.
The representative of ETC, Ms. Marilou Paderes, provided information concerning ETC Services and Support which caters to students’ needs specifically using the Student Portal and the Workshop Services. Ms. Fatma from the OJT Office acquainted the students about the OJT process, procedures, manual and its importance.
