Business Studies Department organizes lecture on career building
Todays Youth are the Pillars of Tomorrows Nation is not only a psychological truth but also the dream of this nation. To support and enhance this fact, the Business Studies department in a joint effort with the OJT Department of Shinas College of Technology arranged for a guest lecture on career building which was given by Ms. Naeema Humaied Mohammed Al-Issai, Employee Relation Team Leader, ORPIC. This lecture was organized by Mr. Soofi Azizuddin Khusro Industrial Link Coordinator, under the guidance of the Head of the Department Business Studies, Ms. Moza Al Shihi and the support of the OJT Team members last March 4, 2013 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM.
The lecture was given by Ms. Naeema and was supported by Ms. Buthaina Nasser Hilal Al Mamari. The key note of the lecture was If you want to succeed, you must open a new path and not just follow the path that has been opened by someone else. To make the students understand the above concept, some interactive games were played, where groups depicted pictorially what success meant to them as a group. Each group brought out something new. While one team insisted that team spirit was essential, another depicted it as a stage wise process, while yet another showed the importance of education being the key to enhance success.
Interacting both in English and Arabic, Ms. Naema brought out to the students that they should be clear about the goals, plan effectively towards achieving the same and most important of all to stick to what they wanted to achieve. She highlighted that along ones career path often we are met with elements that may either discourage them by saying that these goals were not achievable or that the individual did not have the acumen to achieve the same. However it was these hurdles that one should jump over, by having the firm belief and trust on their individual capabilities.
The lecture came to an end with the Head of the Business Studies Department, Ms. Moza expressing her warm thanks to Ms. Naeema, presenting her with a Certificate of Appreciation for visiting and motivating the students, and hand in hand expressing the hope that the students would use the knowledge gained to maximize their career opportunities.
