Business Studies Department holds Series of Lectures
The Business Studies Department arranged a series of lectures for the students of ShCT. The keynote speakers were all people who had proved their mettle in various sectors.
The first in the series was held on March 9, 2014 at Room 2032. The lecture entitled "Trade Unions in Oman" was delivered by Mr. Musabah Al Muqbali, Head of the Directorate of Manpower in Al Batinah Region. This talk was attended by 30 B. Tech. students specializing in Human Resources and is currently engaged in doing the course Employee Relations.
Students registered for the course in Banking Theory and Practice was addressed by Mr. Abdallah Al Reisi, Manager of Oman Arab Bank. Before taking up the reins of Oman Arab Bank, Mr. Abdallah used to head the Shinas Branch of Bank Muscat. During the course of his talk, Mr. Abdallah elaborated on the practical experiences he had gained over the years in banking industry. Mr. Abdallah proved to be a true inspiration for all in attendance by his dedication, commitment and unending pursuit of excellence. Samples of bank forms were distributed to the students to familiarize them with various banking transactions. The talk was held in Room 2040 on March 18, 2014.
B. Tech students specializing in Human Resource Management and is currently doing a course in Business Strategy and HRM attended a talk on the topic "Strategic Role of Human Resource Management in Decision Making" delivered by Ms. Shareefa Al Balushi, The HR Director of Oman Rolling Aluminium Company (ORAC). This was held on March 31, 2014 at Room 90B.
Students gained immense and valuable knowledge from all these imminent speakers. The Academic Support Services Committee of the Business Studies Department, facilitated by Ms. Khadija and Dr. Faraj, initiated the series of lectures.
