IT students present at SQU’s 2nd Students Research Conference
Information Technology (IT) students Sundus Yousuf Abdullah Al-Jabaria, Aseela Mohammed Saif Al Kaabi and Maryam Saeed Hamad Al Shibli presented their research “Attainment of Graduate Attributes by IT Students: Criteria – Based Capability Model” during the 2nd Students Research Conference held at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) Muscat, April 15-16, 2019.
They were supervised by IT lecturer Mr. Prashanth Kumar Bolisetty.
The conference aimed “to promote its role in spreading research and cultivating the culture of research among students.”
During the conference, four groups of IT students also exhibited their researches through posters and answered questions from the audience.
Students Laila Mahmood Khamis Al Fazari, Fatma Saif Ahmed Al Jabri and Rajaa Rashid Saif Al Mamari discussed their research entitled “VANET-Optimal route in finding petrol stations in Oman”, with the guidance of Dr. Bala Veerasamy.
Exhibiting the paper “The Role of Online Appointment System in Patients Satisfaction in Government Polyclinics of Oman”, Hawraa Said Saif Al-Alawi and Asila Sarhan Abdullah Al-Risi were supervised by Ms. Myra Patalay.
Meanwhile, the third group comprising of Nawaf Hamad Salim Al-Washahi, Al-Safa Ahmed Zaid Al-Abdulsalam, and Afrah Sulaiman Al-Mamari presented “Enhancing Blood Transfusion Safety through the use of Online Blood Bank Management System in Oman”, and was guided by Mr. Edgardo Dalan, Jr.
Finally, the group of Maryam Sultan Al-Shamsi and Fatma Abdullah Almoqbali explained “Smart Emergency Detection and Notification System using RPi 3 for Al Batinah Expressway”. They were mentored by Dr. Prasanna Ranjith.
The participating colleges and universities were SQU, Al Sharqiya University, Nizwa University, the Arab Open University, ShCT, the Middle East College, Sur College of Applied Sciences, Muscat College, Al Zahra College for Women, Oman College of Management and Technology and Oman College of Applied Sciences.
The conference was organized by SQU’s Deanship of Research.
