Selected IT students from ShCT participated in the Oman Collegiate Programming Contest 2014 held at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), April 22-23, 2014. The participants were Sultan Hassan Al-Mamari, Ali Mohammed Al-Saadi, Fatema Mohammed Al-Balushi, Fatma Mahfood Al-Jarwani, Iman Ahmed Al-Awadhi, and Aysha Ismail Salem Al-Saadi. Mr. Bala Dhandayuthapani and Mr. Mohana Murthy served as their coaches and mentors. The said competition aimed to provide college students an opportunity to demonstrate and sharpen their problem-solving and computing skills as well as to meet fellow students from the different universities in the Sultanate and neighboring countries. As the competition was held under the auspices of the Association of Computing Machine (ACM), the competition was based on the ACM ACPC rules. The competition also served as a venue for the participating teams to gain valuable experience for competing in future ACM regional and world programming contests. Of the seven CoTs in the Sultanate, ShCT was the only one to join this event. The rest of the participants represented colleges/universities from other GCA countries such as Kuwait, KSA, Bahrain, and Qatar.
