IT Lecturers present technical papers in 2nd ICAICT 2014
IT Lecturers, Mr. Christodoss Ranjith Prasanna and Mr. Abdul Samad Saleem Raja presented their research works in the recently held 2nd International Conference on Applied Information and Communication Technology. The two day conference was held at the Middle East College, Muscat on April 28th and 29th, 2014. The said conference aimed to identify the latest research trends and developments in ICT and to highlight the ICT advancements and developments incorporated in the tailored and customized IT solutions for organizations in the Sultanate of Oman. Mr. C. Prasanna Ranjith presented a paper entitled "A Secured and Optimized Routing in MANET using Genetic Algorithms" which he co-authored with Mary Jane Aragon, HoD of Information Technology, ShCT, and Dr. P. Calduwel Newton from the Department of Science and Applications in Bishop Heber College. The presentation dealt with the proposed genetically inspired SPGA algorithm that promises efficient routing and the detection and prevention methods for MANET from Denial of Service Attacks through immune mechanism. The findings in the paper stated that owing to the increase in computational overhead when immune mechanism is implemented to the proposed SGPA, it has to be decided whether optimum result is desired or secured route is desired. Mr. A. Saleem Raja presented his work on "Mobile Agent Based Distributed Association Rule Mining: A Survey". According to his study, many distributed and parallel data mining algorithms are being used by fellow researchers to turn data into useful, meaningful knowledge. His presentation stressed that Association Rule Mining (ARM) and Frequent Item Sets Mining (FIM) get much attention nowadays due to their wide applications. His paper also presented an extensive survey on mobile agent based distributed data mining architectures and ARM framework and highlighted some research issues faced by this framework. Dr. E. George Dharma Prakash Raj of Bharathidasan University in Tamil Nadu, India co-authored the paper presented by Mr. A. Saleem Raja.
