IT Department orients Diploma I students

The Information Technology (IT) Department conducted a series of orientation programs from January 17-21, 2016. The aim of the orientation programs was to educate the new Information Technology (IT) students about the academic system, policies and procedures of the department. In addition, the objective was to inform students about various specializations offered and the student services and support. Furthermore, they were also notified regarding the counseling services, and extra and co-curricular activities.
IT lecturers Mr. Mir Abid Ali, Ms. Malathi Gopinath and Mr. Prashanth Kumar gave an overview and profile of the IT department and the specializations offered.
Ms. Amna Al-Kaabi and Ms. Amina Salim Mohd Al-Jabri discussed the academic system and related policies and procedures that serve to guide the new students in obtaining the desired Cumulative General Point Average (CGPA) to avoid entering probation status.
On the other hand, ETC Technicians, Ms. Kalithem Mohammed Salim Al-Jabri and Ms. Laila Mohammed Said Al-Mamari, informed the students on the student services offered by ShCT’s Educational Technology Centre.
Mr. Ahmed Al-Farsi, acting head of Counselling and Graduates Follow-up, facilitated an in-depth discussion on probation, learning styles, study habits, and other related matters.
Mr. Mir Abid Ali, Ms. Malathi Gopinath and Mr. Prashanth Kumar facilitated the program.
Meanwhile, the Student Support Services Committee decided to conduct the induction program in the classrooms to ensure high percentage attendance.
