IT Department holds induction program

To intensify its student supports service, the Information Technology Department conducted an induction-orientation program for new students last Monday, February 18 at the Multi-Purpose Hall. This induction-orientation program aimed to educate the students on the academic system, policies and procedures, available student services, and student activities. Mr. Syed Mher, HoS-Networking, welcomed the lecturers and students. Ms. Faridah Rehan, HoS-Math, gave a short background about the department and she introduced the heads of sections and lecturers. The College Dean, Dr. Ali Al-Mughari, gave an inspiring message to the students. He encouraged them to observe proper communication protocol as well as to enrich their knowledge and skills during their time in the college, so that they will turn out well-equipped and employable in the near future. Mr. Aymen Al-Kiyumi, Assistant Dean for Academics, spoke on the importance of using the student portal in making inquires, or posting grievances. Ms. Aysha Al-Jabri, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, also spoke about the significance of knowing the policies and rules of the academic system during their tenure in the College. As part of the programme, Mr. Mohammed Taj presented the academic system, policies and procedures, and other academic-related matters that will guide the students both in avoiding academic delinquency and in obtaining their desired qualifications. He spoke on CGPA computation, probation, withdrawal, dismissal, postponement, and many other matters of import. Ms. Amina Al-Jabri, HoS-CSS of ETC, oriented the students about the ETC services and support activities offered. Mr. Julius Cristobal gave an overview of student activities and the IT Club. Following this, Dr. Joey Masirag gave an overview of Diploma in Information Technology. Mr. Edgardo Dalan served as the master of ceremonies. IT faculty members were in attendance and lent support to the entire program.
