After twelve weeks of rigorous ICDL training which commenced last November, 11, 2012, 4 participants have meritoriously completed all the 7 modules and ICDL online examinations held last February 24, 2013. The ICDL training program for the participants was scheduled for 3 days a week between 4 pm and 6 pm. Around 10 participants from various industries registered for the program, namely, 2 employees from Shadeed Iron & Steel Co., 3 from International Heavy Equipment Llc., 2 from Oman Fomaldehyde Chemical, 1 from Sharq Sohar Steel Rolling Mill Llc. and 2 from Mobilift & Partners Llc. Out of the 10 registered participants, only 4 attended the training program regularly. During the first week of the program, Mr. Justin and Mr. Narayanan gave lectures on the Basic Concepts of Information Technology. Mr. Prasanna and Mr. Syed Ibrahim provided training in using the computer and managing files. Mr. Charles and Mr. Gulam handled the word processing module while Mr. Julius and Mr.Umesh tutored the module on spreadsheets. Mr. Edgar and Ms. Anet tackled the database module and the team of Ms. Beth and Mr. Greg explained the topics on presentation. Ms. Madhubala and Mr. Madhavan demonstrated the module on web browsing and communication. Mr. Mohammed Kuresh and Ms. Lilibeth Rivera are at the core of the IT Departments ICDL Committee. The ICDL training program is a joint initiative of the OJT Department, headed by Ms. Fatma Al-Shibli, and the IT Department council members: Mr. Gharib Al-Matroushi, HoD-IT, Ms. Aysha Al-Jabri, former HoS-IT, and Dr. Mary Jane Aragon, HoS-Networking. Also, the department is looking forward to hold similar training programs to other companies and partners to strengthen its industrial linkages and cooperation.
