IT and ETC Staff Attend COMEX Conference

Five (5) IT and five (5) ETC Staff from ShCT attended the COMEX Conference 2014 held on April 8th and 9th at the Golden Tulip, Muscat. The attendees were Dr. Mary Jane Aragon (HoD-IT), Mr. Gregory Danguilan, Mr. Justin, Mr. Edgardo Dalan (IT Lecturers) and Ms. MarilouPaderes (IT Coordinator) from the IT Department and Mr. Talal Al-Quri (HoS-ESS), Mr. Ali Al-Belushi, Mr. Bashir Al-Mazroui, Mr. Adbulridha Al-Hamdani and Ms. Laila Al-Mamari (ETC Technicians) from the ETC Department. With "Mobility" as the theme, the COMEX Conference 2014 was divided into three sessions: "Mobility for Enterprises-Strategic Challenges and Solutions", "Business Transformation through Mobility Solutions" and "Mobility for Enterprise". Well-known personalities and speakers graced the event and talked on new technologies, breakthroughs, and innovations. "The Nexus of Forces: Mobility Gets Real", "What is Sufficient Mobile Broadband", "The Connect Enterprise-Simplified", "Transforming the Mobile Internet", "Vision for Mobility Future", "Broadband Challenges and Opportunities", "Secure Mobile Communications" were just a few of the topics addressed in the conference. The workshop on How to Craft a Mobile Application included strategy and case studies. "Mobility is in its rapid pace in all walks of life and COMEX 2014 provided us with great information to keep abreast with the new mobile technology. As an attendee to the COMEX Conference, I concur that mobility really changes the way people interact with each other. We will re-echo the learning we acquired from the conference to students and staff in the coming days", Ms. Marilou Paderes said. Some of the ETC and IT staff visited the COMEX Exhibition held at the Oman International Exhibition Centre from April 7-11, 2014. National and international companies participating in the exhibition offered business and government IT solutions, and the latest in electronic and consumer gadgets.
