SHCT welcomed the second batch of the 760 admitted students for the academic year 2011/2012. An induction week program for the freshmen has been organized by the college administration. An induction program has been divided into two sessions: one for male students and the other one for the female students. The program involved a number of activities that started with recitation of Holy Quran by the student, Yahya Al Belushi. Then, the Acting Dean, Dr. Ali Al Mugairi, delivered his speech with a warm welcoming and congratulating to the new students on their admission to the college. He also advised students to continue with the same academic spirit and put in much harder work during their college life in order to succeed. After that, the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Mr. Darwish Al Kalbani, delivered his speech which shed light on the importance of discipline and values. He further urged the students to abide by the rules and regulations of the College and keep abreast of social values and principles in their pursuit to become better affluent citizens. He also encouraged the students to enhance their learning through scientific research. Later, it was time for HoD of Counseling Department, Ms. Huda Al Ajmi, to orientate the audience about the Induction week schedule. After that, Ali Al Balushi briefed the new students about the ELC missions, visions and programs. He also explained all procedures concerned with the placement test. A brief introduction on how to open bank account was delivered by a representative from Dhofar Bank. He also advised the students to open their bank accounts during the orientation week. Finally, students proceeded to exam rooms to take their placement test. Apart from this, SHCT in collaboration with the Students Activities and Counseling Departments organized a number of lectures on the system of study, college services, rules and regulations of the college.
