Shell Workshop on Career Guidance
Follow Up of Graduates Department and On the Job Training Department jointly conducted a workshop under the guidance of the Shell Vocational Guidance Cell for the ShCt students on Saturday, 24 November 2012 from 9:00AM to 1:00PM. This workshop was conducted as a part of the framework of workshops, seminars and events held periodically in the course of an academic year for developing the management awareness and professional competency of the students. These activities are also aimed at providing good training in the employment of techniques for achieving success in the search for jobs after graduation. This would also lead to an increased awareness among the students about the expected performance levels in future jobs
The workshop was attended by quite a large number of the student community, both male and female, and a sizable number of academic and administrative staff members. More than 89 members from various departments and sections of the college participated.
Mr. Ahmad Al Farsi of the Guidance and Counseling Department welcomed and introduced the coach, Mr. Yasser Al Lawatia,, to the audience. He also welcomed all the participants.
Mr. Yasser Al Lawatia began his session by introducing the basic steps for enrollment in the career market after graduation. He detailed the manner in which applications have to be made for securing employment, preparation of Curriculum Vitae, interview modes and the fierce competitiveness of the job market. He used models based on various academic qualifications for clarification of points. He also spoke about the training periods.
Hands on training were given to the audience on how to meet the employers and how to prepare for and face an interview. He also provided information to the students about some of the job sites they would find helpful in their future.
At the end of the workshop, the Dean and the students expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the rewarding session presented by the coach, Mr. Yasser Al Lawatia.
