ShCT IT students showcased projects in the Tech Fair
In line with its commitment to engage with the local community, the Department of Information Technology participated in the Technology Fair held in Al-Nokbah School in Shinas, Sultanate of Oman last April 14, 2012. Three IT Diploma level students presented three (3) course projects.
Fatma Khalfan Al-Kharusi presented the course project entitled "ShCT Virtual Tour System", a multimedia application, which was developed together with Zainab Rashid Al-Kindi, Aysha Khamis Al-Yahyai, and Walaa Rashid Al-Nofli. This course project features a mapping capability that allows the end-user to navigate the various areas in the ShCT campus. This information kiosk application aims to help visitors, new staff, and new students to be familiar with the various facilities the college offers and how to access them easily.
Kawla Saeed Al-Mamari presented her "XO Game" project which is an application allows two (2) players to play the popular tic-tac-toe game. It provides a board which allows players to place their Xs and Os in a row horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Also, the application tracks playing statistics of each player.
Likewise, Hajer Abdullah Al-Shehi presented her group project entitled "Online Voting for Shura Council", which was developed together with Moza Amer Al-Badi, and Aida Ali Al-Sheidi. This web-based application simulates the voting process done during the Shura Council Election across the Sultanate. It includes voters' registration module, and the actual voting process.
The participation of the IT Department in the said fair exemplifies its commitment to the society to produce technically skilled, and competent IT professionals.
