IT Students Bag 1st, 2nd Places in ITech Marathon
The duo of ShCT’s Software Engineering students, Ali Mohammed Abdullah Al-Saadi and Ahmed Abdullah Saif Al-Badi, claimed the top spot in the Web Programming Competition, besting thirteen teams from seven colleges across the Sultanate, in the recently concluded I-Tech Marathon held in Ibri College of Technology March 14, 2016,
Ms. Myra Patalay, IT Lecturer, served as the coach of the web programming champions.
Meanwhile, Networking students Afra Saif Khalfan Al-Kaabi, Hassa Khalfan Al-Kaabi, and Saleh Adnan Saleh Al-Shibli bagged second place in the Project Demonstration Competition with their project entitled “Designing and Implementing LAN for Sohar University with MS-Exchange Server 2013 Services with VoIP Features in Windows Server 2012.
Mr. M. Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, Networking Lecturer, served as the coach of the networking students.
Other participants from the college were Naeema Salim Al-Moqbali, Asseela Ali Mohammed Al-Moqbali, Ahad Musabah Rashid Al-Jabri, Noura Ali Abdallah Al-Qasmi, Humaid Saeed Ali Al-Eisae, and Hilal Khalfan Al-Khawaldi for Project Demonstrations; whereas, Mohammed Ali Mohammed Al-Shehi, Buthainah Talib Ahmed Al-Ajmiah, Aysha Saeed Ali Al-Shehi, and Khadeeja Murshid Abdullah Al-Mamari competed in the Troubleshooting category. Moreover, Amira Said Al-Hamadi, Fatma Al-Weshahi, Maria Said Rashid Al-Issai, and Anwar Abdullah Al-Ghafri participated in the Web Programming category.
Mr. Imthiaz Ahmed, Networking Lecturer, also served as mentor in one of the project demonstrations.
The academic competition aimed to provide a common platform for all technological colleges to showcase their students’ talents and skills in the identified areas.
