IT Department Orients Diploma I Students
A series of induction-orientation programs for new diploma students was held on May 11 to 12, 2016 at Room A-150 and Lab 7.
These activities aimed to educate the new IT students about the academic system, policies and procedures, specializations offered, available student services and support, counseling services, and extra and co-curricular activities.
Math lecturer Ms. Malathi Gopinath and IT lecturer Mr. Edgardo Dalan Jr. gave the overview and profile of the IT department and the specializations offered.
Networking lecturer Ms. Amina Salim Mohd Al-Jabri and Ms Deena Al-Zedi discussed the academic system, related policies and procedures, and other academic matters that serve to guide the new students in obtaining the desired Cumulative General Point Average (CGPA) and avoid entering probation status.
ETC Technicians Ms. Kalithem Mohammed Salim Al-Jabri and Ms. Maryam Ahmed Salim Al-Suliteni informed the students on the student services offered by ShCT’s Educational Technology Centre (ETC).
Mr. Ahmed Al-Farsi, Head of Counseling and Graduate Follow-up, facilitated an in-depth discussion on probation, how to avoid and move out from it, learning styles and study habits, and other related matters.
Ms. Malathi Gopinath and Mr. Edgardo Dalan Jr. facilitated the whole program.
