Workshop Equips ELC with Enhanced Writing Instruction Skill
The ELC recently hosted a workshop, "Teaching Writing Like a Pro," presented by ELC Lecturer Dr. Zahra Zargaran, which concluded on 9th November 2023. Aimed at addressing challenges faced by educators in teaching writing effectively, the three-session training, facilitated by the Staff Professional Development Team, emphasized theoretical foundations, practical techniques, and constructive feedback. The objective was to empower teachers with the knowledge and tools necessary to enhance their students' writing skills. The first phase delved into the theoretical underpinnings of academic teaching, providing a solid framework aligned with the university's unique educational context. Building on this foundation, the practical phase engaged participants in hands-on activities and discussions, focusing on actionable strategies for the classroom.
The final phase centered on equipping teachers with the skills to provide constructive feedback on students' written works. Recognizing the significance of feedback in the learning process and using effective approaches and best practices for evaluating and critiquing students' writing. Participants gained valuable insights into creating engaging writing assignments and fostering a conducive learning environment. The training provided opportunities for educators to implement the techniques and strategies discussed, solidifying their understanding and proficiency in teaching writing effectively.
