SQU Professor Delivers Workshop on Enhancing Critical Thinking
Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) professor Dr. Victoria Tuzlukova facilitated a workshop dubbed “Integrating Critical Thinking Skills in English Language Classes” at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Shinas College of Technology, on March 24, 2016.
Dr. Tuzlukova, SQU’s Professional Development and Research Unit Head, engaged the English Language Center (ELC) staff through a number of exercises that may enhance students’ critical thinking skills.
“Language education should emphasize critical thinking,” Dr. Tuzlukova said as she discussed the core critical thinking skills, namely; interpretation, analysis, inference, evaluation, explanation and self-regulation.
Mr. Ali Abdullah Al Balushi, ELC HOC, expressed gratitude to the eminent SQU professor as he awarded her a Certificate of Appreciation at the end of the workshop.
The workshop was coordinated by ELC lecturer Dr. Kalyana Chakravarthi and organized by ELC’s Staff Professional Development Committee, headed by Mr. Johnnie Kwashie.
