Mr. Nasser Al Hindasi, Head of the Curriculum and Teaching Methods Section (HoS-CTM) of the English Language Center (ELC) conducted a workshop for the ELC faculty at Room F-023, on April 10, 2019.

Dubbed as “Should teachers design their own teaching materials?”, the workshop aimed at raising the teachers’ awareness in the process of developing and modifying their own English Language Teaching (ELT) materials, and developing a list of qualities of effective course books based on their personal experiences.

During the workshop, the participants used a well-designed questionnaire to evaluate the current course books that they are using in the Center.

They also deliberated on various reasons for modifying provided teaching materials and discussed the proper framework for designing their materials.

The presenter also emphasized that as long as teachers can justify and rationalize their choice of materials in relation to the learning outcomes, then modifying or designing one's own materials is commendable

The workshop was organized by the Staff Professional Development Team (SPDT) headed by Mr. Given Chakalisa.
