English Club facilitates ‘English Open Day’
The English Club, in coordination with ELC’s Staff Support Committee, facilitated the ‘English Open Day’ on the Ground Floor of the Main Building and Multi-Purpose Hall of the Engineering Building, on February 28, 2019.
The event aimed to provide students with valuable educational opportunities to learn outside the classroom, develop their speaking skill, and enable them to brainstorm ideas and work cooperatively.
Eight teams comprising of 10 student-members from Higher College of Technology (HCT), Musanna College of Technology (ACT), Al Buraimi University College (BUC), Ibri College of Technology (ICT), International Maritime College (IMCO), Military College of Technology (MTC), Sohar University and Shinas College of Technology (ShCT) actively participated in the said event.
The teams competed in different activities such as language games, team building and oral presentations.
They also showcased their talents in singing, playing musical instruments, painting and delivering a poem in the ‘talent show’.
The Military College of Technology emerged as winners in the ‘Treasure Hunt’ team building game.
Hassan Al Imundari of ICT, Amal Al Ghaithi of IMCO, and Tahani Al Bandri of BUC won in the Oral Presentations.
BUC students Summaiya Al Kaabi, Tahani Al Bandri, and Hajer Al Zeidi bagged the first place in the ‘Idea Challenge’ competition.
ELC Head Mr. Ali Abdullah Al Balushi and HoS-ELP Mr. Ahmed Hashil Al Saadi congratulated and awarded the winners with plaques and certificates of recognition.
Mr. Al Balushi praised the English club members who planned, organized and hosted the event.
The said event was graced by the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs Mr. Younus Al Zaabi, Information of Technology (IT) HoC Ms. Amina Al Jabri, IT HoS Ms. Amna Al Kaabi, and attended by ELC lecturers, English club members and Foundation Program students.
