ELC Workshop Explores Practical Implications of Dictogloss in Language Teaching
The Staff Professional Development Committee of the ELC organized a workshop titled ‘Practical Implications of Dictogloss in Language Teaching’ led by ELC lecturer Dr Zahra Zargaran. The event aimed to equip educators with knowledge and practical techniques to enhance language learning outcomes using Dictogloss. Dr Zargaran highlighted the challenges teachers face in breaking down language elements and emphasized that Dictogloss can overcome this hurdle by synthesizing language skills and elements, promoting learner engagement. The workshop provided an overview of Dictogloss, its benefits, stages, and practical implementation steps, while also addressing potential drawbacks. The workshop provided practical and engaging techniques of how to use Dictogloss in class and concluded with a collaborative Q&A session, where Dr Zargaran shared insights and guidance. The event was praised for its contribution to teachers' professional growth and their ability to create integrated and engaging language learning environments. The workshop was attended by ELC staff and guests from the Shinas Vocational College. The Staff Professional Development Committee coordinator, Mr Ossama Mustafa and HOS Mr Hamdan Al Abri, presented a certificate of appreciation to Dr Zahra. Mr Ossama commented that by organizing such events, the SPD committee at the ELC ensures that lecturers are equipped with the latest pedagogical tools to deliver quality education and increased student engagement in language classrooms.
