Eleven Higher Diploma students of Civil Engineering visited the new engineering workshop building being constructed within ShCT’s premises on January 28, 2016.

The purpose of the visit is to give exposure to students in the areas of setting out of the building and foundation design & undertaking the working drawing.

Mr.Raja Narayanan, site engineer of Ibthaj Trading and Construction, Oman, guided the industrial visit.

Mr. Raja Narayanan explained the site leveling for the foundation excavation of soil. He also discussed the PCC work after compacting the soil by vibrator and center-line marking for the footing.

Moreover, Mr. Narayanan demonstrated the erection of column reinforcements to the footing reinforcement and how to maintain the verticality of the column while concreting the footing.

The Engineering Department, in coordination with the OJT Department of ShCT, arranged the industrial visit.

Civil section HOS Dr. Mahmoud Khazalah, lecturers Mr. Prakash Kandasamy and Mr. Praveen Kumar Ramadas, and engineering technician Mr. Phani Kumar accompanied the students throughout the visit.
