A group of 20 Mechanical Engineering students visited Jindal Shadeed Iron and Steel LLC, on February 14, 2019.

Initiated by the Industrial Liaison Committee of the Engineering Department (ED), the industrial visit aimed to familiarize students with the various processes in metal products.

Junior Executive Aysha Salim Al Mammari welcomed the group. Safety Officer Mansoor Al Balushi explained the company’s health and safety rules that students  need to abide all throughout  the visit.

Assistant General Manager of Rolling Mill Production Sajid Azher discussed the entire process and technical details of making iron products.

The students also gained knowledge on steel rebars, grades and heat treatment of steel rebars, rolling machines and operations, types of rolls, overhead cranes, heating furnaces and the dfferent material handling system.

ED lecturer Mr. Sujith Rethnam accompanied the students in the said visit.
