BTECH students visit Voltamp Sohar
Twenty-one Bachelor of Technology (BTech) students from Electrical Engineering section visited VOLTAMP, a power transformer manufacturing unit, in Sohar on June 1, 2016.
Mr. Yousuf Said Al Shafey, HR & Admin Manager, gave a presentation about the operations, and manufacturing processes of the unit. He also discussed the safety concerns to be followed during the site visit.
Mr. Khaled Salim Mohammed Al-Roshdi from Quality section and Mr. Abdul Majeed Abdullah Salim Al-Maqbali and Ms. Ahoud from Design section guided the BTech students during the visit.
Accompanied by Engineering faculty Mr. Shanmugam Durairaj, the students visited different sections of the plant namely: insulation, winding, core assembly, accessories and protective devices fitting, and high voltage testing of transformers.
The students gained in-depth knowledge of the process of manufacturing transformers.
The Industrial Link Activities Committee of the Engineering Department, in coordination with ShCT’s OJT Department, organized the industrial visit.
